An SNP branch Twitter account has been abruptly shut down with no explanation.
This site carried communication demonstrating the existence of a vicious organised witch hunt against the local Orkney and Shetland Liberal Democrat MP, Alistair Carmichael.
Below is a screen shot of the closed site, with its original URL. The LHB branch has been revealed to be the Lossiemouth, Hopeman and Burghead bench in the Moray constituency of SNP Westminster Group Leader, Angus Robertson; and near Alex Salmond’s home patch.
Carmichael is, of course, the former Scottish Secretary who belatedly admitted to playing a part in an attempted political smear of First Minister Nicola Sturgeon in the recent General Election campaign – and to lying in an attempt to cover up his involvement.
The SNP has been running an orchestrated campaign to oust Carmichael, ambitious to take the seat in a resulting by-election-which would take their tally to 57 out of 59 Scottish seats in Westminster.
Local activists have been let loose on the job, with a branch Twitter account carrying worrying evidence of the sort of plans they were making and were geared up to carry through.
What is of concern is the evident force of will to behave collectively in this way – like a self-licensed lynch mob. This is the ugly face of nationalism that we got to know too well during the indyref 1 campaign. It is far too great a force in the SNP but it is the force of numbers that carries that party to the electoral victories that are clearly only beginning.
We understand from Orkney that Mr Carmichael’s family there is being subjected to unforgivably shameful harrassment and abuse coming from SNP supporters.
This can only be described as fascist behaviour and is wholly out of kilter in a liberal and civilised democracy.
Here is the brave new Scotland of the one party state being forced upon more than half of the population who – with good reason – cannot support it.

This material speaks for itself and is evidence of the underworld that is driving the SNP dominance by force of intimidation.
